Medical Aesthetics Regulations in Texas

According to Texas State Code 193.17, non-physicians are permitted to administer injectables, provided they work under the supervision of a licensed physician. The Texas Medical Board’s rules, issued in 2013, require:

  • Advanced patient screening procedures
  • Injections to be supervised by a licensed medical professional
  • Written protocols to be readily available
  • Detailed record keeping
  • Hands-on training for individuals administering injections

These regulations authorize qualified personnel to perform dermal fillers, neurotoxins, and other cosmetic injectables, even if the supervising physician is not physically present during the procedure.

Important: Prior to performing any services, a compliant and legal business structure must be established.
